Nick replied to the topic Affording a house is hard in your 20's! in the forum Real Estate 1 year, 2 months ago

I know people in their 30s who are not having it any easier. I was able to buy in my 20s just fine but because of debts and poor financial choices, it quickly got the best of me. I am sure the market will go back down though. Just have to be patient.

Nick replied to the topic How should a house be prepared before selling it? in the forum Real Estate 1 year, 2 months ago

I was just looking into this topic myself. I can share a few tips with you that I liked and will be using if I decide to sell this summer.

You want to make your house as personalized as possible. Remove photos, custom family items, etc. It is a good idea to do a fresh coat of neutral-colored paints in all rooms of the house as well as switch out…[Read more]

Nick replied to the topic How do you know when to buy before the bull? in the forum Investing Hub 1 year, 2 months ago

No one knows really. It is not something you can predict to a fault. You have to learn the patterns of certain stocks and watch them closely. It is a lot of work and honestly unless it is your job to deal with this, it is not worth it. Just research the companies for yourself and decide if it is something you can see expanding in the future.

Nick replied to the topic How do I know what company's stock to invest in? in the forum Investing Hub 1 year, 2 months ago

If you are not sure, just research. Find a company you like. Maybe look into your favorite place to eat and see what their stocks are looking like. You can also invest in local businesses that are likely to expand in the future.

Nick replied to the topic Do you invest in companies you like? in the forum Investing Hub 1 year, 2 months ago

I do. I like to research who and what I am giving my money to. I like the moral framework to match my worldviews as best as possible. I won’t invest in any company or person who is propping up horrible campaigns against people or other companies and I won’t support people/companies who destroy smaller businesses.

Nick replied to the topic I did woodwork on the side but the prices have gone up! in the forum Insiders Side Hustlers' Club 1 year, 2 months ago

I was so mad when I saw how much they went up. I fully intended on building a deck with my brother for my pool. I have an aboveground and wanted to make use of it more this summer as well as make it so my father can use it for his recovery. He is getting knee surgery at the end of the month. Needless to say, a $700 job is now looking to be a $2100…[Read more]

Nick replied to the topic Can you really make thousands a month through ads? in the forum Insiders Side Hustlers' Club 1 year, 2 months ago

Yeah, absolutely. It takes time and it takes a lot of hard work in the beginning. If you can get enough traffic onto a site daily, you can easily earn hundreds of thousands a month. Those sites are few and far in between but they do exist. If we are talking blogs only, I would look at buying an already established domain that is earning for itself…[Read more]

Nick replied to the topic What does the crackdown in China mean for crypto? in the forum Crypto FOMO Club 1 year, 2 months ago

I will be honest, I never trusted the CCP and I never will. It would not surprise me if the government is doing this to manipulate the market and gain traction on crypto so they can have the most power within their borders.

Nick replied to the topic GMR is maximizing their reach! in the forum Crypto FOMO Club 1 year, 2 months ago

This is one of the few I actually invested in. I am hoping to see it take off in the near future. I know a lot of people are just looking to get rich off crypto but I want to sustain long-term growth and establish a pattern where I can gain constantly, in smaller amounts.

Nick replied to the topic I was considering investing in DOGE… in the forum Crypto FOMO Club 1 year, 2 months ago

That isn’t entirely true, it was more a less made popular because of memes and jokes about the coin and the fact that the coin itself was based on a long-running meme in a dog most people love.

Nick replied to the topic Does using a food delivery service save you money? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 1 year, 2 months ago

I think they like to claim it does but in the long run, it doesn’t. If you compare the prices of the actual food items, they tend to be anywhere from 5 to 20% more than the cost in the store, and on top of that, you need to pay a subscription fee. Not worth it to me!

Nick replied to the topic Using LED bulbs in the forum Frugal Living Tips 1 year, 2 months ago

It took me a while to change since I had a pretty large stock of the standard bulbs still. I ended up going full LED this year. I am not seeing much of a change but it was gradual for me from the start so I would have to compare my bill from last year to now to really see the difference.

Nick replied to the topic Going meatless, does it save? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 1 year, 2 months ago

You can still eat meat and not have it be expensive. I think this comes down to what you buy and where you buy it. Healthier cuts and options will obviously be more expensive. I prefer the more expensive kind so I just eat less in a single sitting. I eat meat almost daily but I do small servings so you can try cutting back first.

Nick replied to the topic Ways to save while grocery shopping? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 1 year, 2 months ago

Well, one of the easiest ways is to just buy store-brand items or off-label/off-brand items. I know this is not always as easy when it comes to food because the “generic” stuff can be pretty hit or miss but it is worth trying different things out. You can save quite a bit this way.

Nick replied to the topic How to keep fast food cheap? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 1 year, 2 months ago

The only time I eat out these days is if I can find a coupon. Food has gotten so expensive when it comes to eating out that even prior to wanting to be more frugal, I didn’t like the idea of spending so much on food.

Nick started the topic Should you start out investing bigger? in the forum Investing Hub 1 year, 2 months ago

I have made a few investments and a few friends and co-workers are trying to convince me to invest more since I have the money. I just don’t feel like this is a smart idea. They seem to think that you are better off investing bigger in the long wrong. Thoughts on this?

Nick started the topic I have a shared account with my ex, she has bad credit… in the forum Credit Card Co. 1 year, 2 months ago

We have yet to close the account as she has left me to pay all the debt and has even used the card 2 times without paying it. I am contacting the company this weekend and seeing if I can get removed somehow. Have her bad habits brought my scores down even more? I noticed they dropped in the last few months and I haven’t been able to pinpoint why.

Nick started the topic I owe over $50,000 (Not including my mortgage!) in the forum Debt 1 year, 2 months ago

I am still paying off college loans and have racked up some other debts from credit cars and loans (roof repair, auto loan) and now I have a big medical bill coming my way. It will likely add an additional 5k to the pile. I just don’t know where to start right now. I need to pay it off but I am overwhelmed. How can I approach this and get it paid…[Read more]

Nick started the topic Would you sell a house you are still paying on for a profit? in the forum Real Estate 1 year, 2 months ago

A friend of mine seems to believe if I sold my house this summer, I could see as much as a $30k profit on it. Possible more than this. I am tempted to sell just to downsize and save on utilities but I feel like this could be more worth it than just that. I could have the 30k+ to buy a smaller home or I can use this to invest online or into a…[Read more]
