Dana replied to the topic Which credit card will build my credit scores the fastest? in the forum Credit Card Co. 2 years, 9 months ago
Look into Petal 2 cards. they are Visa cards with no fees and a cashback option. They are regarded as one of the easiest to use and they function in a way that is designed to help people build up better scores.

Dana replied to the topic Are Discover cards really that bad? in the forum Credit Card Co. 2 years, 9 months ago
They get a bad rap in this regard because they were, for the longest time, considered a “rich man’s card”. I have one and I think the fees and APR are fine on it. Nothing too high and nothing too outrageous.

Dana replied to the topic Should I use one card to pay off another? in the forum Credit Card Co. 2 years, 9 months ago
In a pinch, it can come in handy but make a habit of it, and you will end up in trouble! I would say the only time you should be doing this is the case in which you mentioned. Use one to pay off another and focus on one payment vs two.

Dana replied to the topic I have a shared account with my ex, she has bad credit… in the forum Credit Card Co. 2 years, 9 months ago
Yes! Her bad credit and lack of payments will bring your scores down and likely have. Get they sorted ASAP! A friend of mine had this happen to her with a joint account she had with her sister. She is still trying to recover her scores.

Dana replied to the topic Anyone sell on Etsy? in the forum Side Hustle Crew 2 years, 9 months ago
I used to sell items on Etsy back in 2015. I was making dreamcatchers and similar items. I made decent sales on there and was not advertising my shop so that is something! I can’t remember the fees but I think it is worth looking into. Very easy to use!

Dana replied to the topic eBay vs Amazon – Which is more profitable in 2021? in the forum Side Hustle Crew 2 years, 9 months ago
I would say both have their ups and downs but it depends on what level of work you want to put in. With Amazon, you just stock the warehouse with your items and they handle all the shipping. With eBay, you need to do this all yourself which means more work for you but your items are less likely to be broken or lost.

Dana replied to the topic Selling Amazon products on eBay? in the forum Side Hustle Crew 2 years, 9 months ago
I see plenty of people still doing this. I shop on eBay over Amazon when I want to use my Paypal balance. Since Amazon doesn’t allow Paypal, I end up looking for what I need on eBay and have received Amazon packaging when my stuff arrived. So I know people still do it. I am not sure how much you could realistically earn though.

Dana replied to the topic Earning Through Blogging in the forum Side Hustle Crew 2 years, 9 months ago
Yes! I have two blogs. One is about gardening and the other is for general arts and crafts. I make an average of $800 between the two. It took a while to get here though and since 2020, my earnings have dropped off a bit. I was making $1200 in 2019 but my average is down to $800 now. Still, I am happy with it!

Dana replied to the topic Is gold still a good investment? in the forum Investing Hub 2 years, 9 months ago
Yes, and it will be for a long time. People hold value to it regardless of whether or not it is useful. If you want to make a smarter investment though, go with copper. That is actually useful and the price/cost is going up and up!

Dana replied to the topic Should you start out investing bigger? in the forum Investing Hub 2 years, 9 months ago
I think it is better to start smaller and start with what you are familiar with. If you invest too much at once, you are likely to lose it all when you are just learning things. Never invest anything you are not willing to lose!

Dana replied to the topic I did woodwork on the side but the prices have gone up! in the forum Insiders Side Hustlers' Club 2 years, 9 months ago
My fiance and I were going to make a small deck for outside and changed our minds when we saw how high the prices went up. We just ended up getting those loose stones and filling in the area with that for now. It isn’t as nice but it functions for what we wanted.

Dana replied to the topic Is it worth opening a small business online? in the forum Insiders Side Hustlers' Club 2 years, 9 months ago
I think it is. Most small businesses that function online are easy to run and don’t cost a lot, especially if you aren’t hiring anyone else to help. A friend of mine runs her business out of a spare bedroom in her house. She has all the inventory in there, a desk with a computer, a label printer for mailing out and shipping packages, and any extra…[Read more]

Dana replied to the topic Avoiding scams, how do you do it? in the forum Insiders Side Hustlers' Club 2 years, 9 months ago
If it sounds too good to be true, then it is! That is the one thing you need to keep in mind all the time when you see this stuff online. I have seen so many listings on Craigslist alone that are looking to scam people, it is not even funny. They all promise thousands of dollars a month for only a few hours of work a week. If it were really that…[Read more]

Dana replied to the topic Does using a food delivery service save you money? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 2 years, 9 months ago
I had a few in the past and honestly, if I did manage to save money, it was not much and the wait was annoying. I would much rather just buy what I can online and grab the rest in person. We have a smaller local shop here that always has great deals anyways.

Dana replied to the topic Ways to save while grocery shopping? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 2 years, 9 months ago
Avoid buying convenient foods! I can buy a frozen meal for $3 each or I can get all the ingredients to make the same meal for $10 and be able to have 6 or more meals from it so it makes sense for me to just meal prep. I think it is worth looking into if you never tried it.

Dana replied to the topic When it comes to making the switch, where do you start? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 2 years, 9 months ago
I think you have to take baby steps and learn new habits, it can take time! I was terrible with my spending in my teens and early 20s but now that I am approaching 30, I have started thinking more long-term and I budget everything. I do my best to put at least 10% of every single check into my savings as well.

Dana replied to the topic Considering downsizing my home to cut costs on utilities would this be worth it? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 2 years, 9 months ago
This depends on the area you live in but generally, your costs will come down. Water will likely be about the same but if you downsize, gas and electric will definitely be cheaper. I would say to think about your future. Map out the next 5 years and go from there.

Dana replied to the topic Is a savings account a good idea these days? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 2 years, 9 months ago
Regardless of interest, it is still good to have. I like to use mine as a “just in case” thing. I have a few thousand in mine at all times so if something comes up be it auto issues, medical issues, or an emergency of any kind, I have the money sitting there if I need it in a pinch. Better than taking out a loan!

Dana replied to the topic Organizing coupons – Best strategy? in the forum Frugal Living Tips 2 years, 9 months ago
The easiest way I have found to handle them is to sort them by expiration month. From there, you can organize them based on what kind of item they are. I like to sort things by household room. So the bathroom is one, the kitchen is another, living room, and so on. It makes it easiest for me to know what I have and know what to plan for.
