The “Broke college student” stereotype has been a part of our culture for so long. So much so, that even some students see it as an honor because they survived broke. However, just because you are a college student doesn’t mean you have to be broke. College can be very expensive for sure, but there is always a way to make money on campus or off of it by doing many other jobs besides the stereotypical ones like working at a fast-food restaurant or working as a pizza deliverer.  C:\Users\Viktorija\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word\photo-1596496050755-c923e73e42e1.jpg

On-Campus Jobs

Campus Tour Guide

If you want to meet new people and know your school, you can consider becoming a tour guide at your campus. The Admissions officers often need help with fielding new students. This will get you some extra cash. In the meantime, you will meet new students looking to follow your steps and share your experience and love for your school with them.

Teaching Assistant

Many colleges reserve assistant jobs for graduate students, but some colleges offer them even to students from junior or senior years. Your job at this position would be to work with other students, monitor exams, grade papers and tests, and in some cases, even teach classes.

Research Assistant

If you have your undergraduate degree, you can apply for the research assistant position. This job involves data collecting in a lab for a specific professor, which is a great way to obtain additional credits and make some extra money.

Campus Dining

If you are a good cook, then this is an awesome place for you. This job ranges from making sandwiches to restocking the food prep stations. And to work in this position, you just need to know how to handle food properly and understand the local health code.

Tutor Other Students

If you are good at a specific subject, you should consider tutoring another person. You can check with the department head at your college or look for such opportunities at local schools. Make sure that you do a good job because a happy client will recommend you afterward, and, with that, that you will get the chance to make more money.

Entrepreneurial Jobs

Website or Blog

If you are passionate about something and want to share it with others, you can start your own website by getting a cheap domain. Freelance Writer

Suppose you don’t like the previous idea, but you like writing. In that case, you should consider becoming a freelance writer for other businesses or websites such as APA research paper writing services. You will make money for the work you do, and you can set your own schedule and work in your free time, which can be very important when you are a college student.

Online Design

If you are creative, there are lots of gigs you can get for a freelance designer. With this kind of job, you can express yourself and make money at the same time, while getting the freedom to create your own schedule and work for gigs when you want to work on them during your free time.

Off-Campus Jobs

Local Store

Stores that sell clothes and accessories constantly offer part-time jobs and are looking for someone to keep the store stocked and clean. So, if there is a mall nearby, you should consider applying.

Internship

You can do internships while you are still at school, but you will need to look for a company that will pay you for your work. An internship is a great way to make money but it’s an even better way of gaining experience and building your resume. In addition, many companies offer a permanent position to their post-graduate interns, so if you do good, you might be getting that position.

Driver

If you own a car, you can easily get a job from sites like Lyft and Uber. You will work independently, and you will be free to set your own schedule. You can even work extra hours during the weekends when you don’t have classes to earn even more.

Restaurant

You can always find a local restaurant that is looking for part-time employees. These kinds of job opportunities usually pay hourly wages, and the positions range from chefs to service.

Odd-End Jobs

Pet sitting

If you love pets, you can check some of the websites that have gigs for dog walking or pet sitting. Of course, you can do it only when you need some extra money, but many pet owners are looking for pet sitters for consistent sitting, so you can even do this job on an ongoing basis.

Babysitter

Just like with pet sitting, many families are also looking for someone that will help them with their children. You can find a babysitter job online or by asking around in your community. Doing this will take just a few hours of your day, and you will have some fun. This will also help you take your mind off of exams and learning.

Yard Work

Many people are willing to pay someone to do their yard work for them because it can be time-consuming. So you can easily get some money by mowing lawns, gardening, shoveling snow, raking leaves, or even painting fences or houses.
